Mat is an offensive defenseman, who skates very well, posesses a great passing game and is well known for his character and leadership. After 4 seasons in the AHL, serving as Team Captain or Assistant in 3 of them, Mat decided to make the transition to Europe, playing in the KHL and SHL for the last 2 seasons.
